The Animator’s Hat

This hat is a typical top-down affair worked in the round, except that it is joined and turned between rounds. This allows for seamless color changes when a striped pattern is desired.

Finished Size: Fits average man’s head (22” circumference)

Skill Level: Easy.

Materials:

• MC: 1 skein Cascade 220
• CC: 1 skein Cascade 220
• Size J-10 (6.0 mm) crochet hook

Gauge: 7 rnds = 4″ across.

With MC, ch 2.

Rnd 1. 8 hdc in second ch from hook. Join with sl st to first hdc in rnd.  8 hdc.

Rnd 2. Ch 2; turn. 2 hdc in flo of ea hdc around. Join with sl st to first hdc in rnd.  16 hdc.

Rnd 3. Ch 2; turn. Hdc in flo of first hdc, 2 hdc in flo of next hdc, *1 hdc in flo of next hdc, 2 hdc in flo of next hdc; rep from * around. Join with sl st to first hdc in rnd.  24 hdc.

Rnd 4. Ch 2; turn. Hdc in flo of first 2 hdc, 2 hdc in flo of next hdc, *hdc in flo of next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in flo of next hdc; rep from * around. Join with sl st to first hdc in rnd.  32 hdc.
